About Me
A transformational journey
I wish I could tell you a brilliant story as to why I started transforming my photographs. This technique started out as play, as most wonderful, divinely inspired things do. I just wanted to see how it worked……. and thus began an amazing ride of creative exploration. I am continuing to learn so much during this process, and much of it speaks to my life as a whole. A bit of what I have learned so far:
Lesson #1: Let go of the outcome (of anything!). What I can imagine is so limited compared to what can happen. Letting go of the reins (and the dreaded expectation) and letting creativity happen is a joyful ride to be sure.
Lesson #2: This transformational technique has only worked for me with an image I would have previously judged as boring, or at the very least, not very interesting. If I try to transform an image that I like a lot to begin with, I’m never happy with the result. It’s always good to know when to leave well enough alone.
Instead I find an image that might have been overlooked or even ended up in the digital trash can and I see what I can do with it. It seems that the less I assume about them, the more I am rewarded. This has not gone unnoticed! In a strange way, it makes me think of adopting a rescue animal. (I know, a bit of a leap, but you know what I mean.) I love the idea that everything can be transformed with a bit of care and attention, and on a larger scale, all of us can transform ourselves, our situations, our lives, into something extraordinary. These images remind me of that every day.
